WOAH

I KNOW this is beyond the scope of things relating to "student issues" or "Vassar" in general, but hear me out.

I'm sure that most of us either have a love of Disney or of video games, or (hopefully, like me) both. GameInformer just released their November issue, and the cover is simply epic:

Appropriately, the project is tentatively titled "Epic Mickey" and is slated for an exclusive Wii release sometime in 2010. Color me ridiculously intrigued - I'm surprised Disney's allowing such a dark take on an otherwise happy-go-lucky cartoon character, much less their company mascot. I can't wait to hear/read more about it!

Speaking of which, some glorious individual has been hooking his Nintendo up to the giant flatscreen in the common room and thus I have rediscovered my unparalleled Mario Kart skills. I’d like to thank my Mario Kart angel and suggest that he might also leave blueberry muffins down there next time.

A "Brawl" At Last

At 12:10 AM this very Sunday morning, I was waiting anxiously in line to purchase my copy of the long-awaited (2 years), twice-delayed SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL. The game is amazing. It has an insane amount of content and unlockable content ranging from secret characters, to secret battle stages, and other play modes. It was certainly well worth the wait. I'll be enjoying my time at home, for sure, until my friends return from school at which point we'll all play together and my story will be a great deal less lame. :P

EA Makes Another Proposal

Electronic Arts has made a third bid to buy-out rival Take-Two.

The maker of such titles as State of Emergency, Manhunt, and Bully has continually rejected EA's bids at takeover. The latest bid from EA is $26 per share - a total of just over $2 billion.

Concern in the industry is mounting, as EA made several prominent buy-outs last year, including a buy-out of BioWare, publisher of such titles as Neverwinter Nights, Mass Effect, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

If EA succeeds in its takeover of Take-Two, it will own the publishing rights to one of the industry's most lucrative - and controversial - franchises: Grand Theft Auto.

Super Smash Bros Creator Comments on Brawl, Sequel

It's true: with the game not even released outside of Japan yet, Super Smash Bros. Brawl creator Masahiro Sakurai has been talking about his plans for a sequel, and even a DS iteration.

Fact is, there are quite a few ideas Sakurai wanted to implement in Brawl, but he simply didn't have the time - even with TWO YEARS worth of delays (remember the Q4 '06 release date??). Even so, he wouldn't reveal what those features are, saying:

"I feel like anything I've considered I'm probably going to think about when -- I mean if -- another game was to come out in the series and so I'd like to keep a lid on that for now. and not disclose anything I've been thinking about there."

He also commented on the possibility for Nintendo to create a portable version of Smash Bros., on the DS or possibly even the DS's successor:

"Seeing the success that Brawl has had with the Wii remote being playing sideways, I don't think that there are control limitations that keep it from being ported to the DS. But I personally have no plans to do this myself. If, in the future, such a thing was to be planned, it would be up to Nintendo to decide how and when and in what way they would like to create that sort of game."

Blog9 plans to receive its copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl over Spring Break!

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is set for a March 9 release in North America.
