Charlton Heston, actor, civil rights leader, and political activist, died today at the age of 84.Best remembered for his iconic role as Moses in The Ten Commandments, Heston was also a vibrant gun rights activist. He created shockwaves in the media and became the face of the NRA when at a 2000 rally, he proclaimed: "From my cold, dead, hands!"
Heston received an Oscar for Best Actor in 1960's Ben-Hur and starred in such movies as Planet of the Apes, The Omega Man (the second movie based on I Am Legend), The Greatest Story Ever Told and Julius Caesar.
| SPRiNKLES's Take: I hate to sound bitter, but good riddance. Yes, Heston was a wonderful actor, but he didn't appear to be a very good person. Anyone remember Bowling For Columbine? I feel as if Heston's true nature came out in that movie. When asked blunt questions about the issue of gun control and children Heston told Moore to get out. |
