Spring is here...

Baseball is back. And it's time for the Mets to redeem themselves. Seriously. Santana is definitely the start to the turn around for the team. I mean, the bottom of their lineup is a little shaky, but their pitching is stronger and Jose Reyes and David Wright are so good looking. Santana, Pedro, Maine, Perez and Pelfrey is the pitching rotation. The first three are gonna have amazing years and it's definitely going to be the pick up for the season. And they play where I played positions in softball (besides pitching). So all in all, I think this is definitely gonna be a baller year for the last year at Shea. I can't wait to get home and go to games with my dad and paint myself blue and orange.

PLEASE STOP THE SPORTS POSTS. THIS ISN'T MIAMI, NO ONE CARES.

Ignore 6:18 pm. Sports posts are awesome. Especially ones about the Mets. Keep 'em coming. I really don't know what 6:18 means by "this isn't miami."

This isn't the University of Miami, we shouldn't be allowing dumb jocks in. Every time I see a member of the basketball and baseball teams I know a legitimate student got rejected from Vassar because of them.

wait a sec

assuming you are the same person who posted 6:18, 9:23, I feel as if you're looking at it wrong

I agree with you basically in the (implied) notion that Vassar isn't a sports college.... which is why im confused as to why you think those on the basketball and baseball teams got in based on athletic ability....

so two things:
1. if I remember correctly, Vassar has NO merit-based scholarships, only NEED-based.... so they're not here on an athletic scholarship, they're here because of need-blind admission and then need-based scholarships if they need them

2. I don't think anyone who's interested in pursuing a career as a professional athlete would come to Vassar. We don't have a "renowned" athletic program (though that's not to say we don't have stellar athletes here), and our number one major is political science.....

So I really don't get what's up with your stance on this.

we're also not a division I school

just because someone plays sports doesn't make them stupid.
this isn't high school. stop using high school stereotypes.

well put 9:34, 9:36, and 9:37... I don't see how anyone could say someone who's athletic and plays sports is dumb. At least they're smart enough to do something that's good for them physically and they learn to work as a team, which is definitely a valuable skill in the work force. The people on the sports teams deserve more credit for being able to balance the time commitment of a sport (hours from each day), all their other commitments, and a comparable academic workload. It's tough.

thank you. its so refreshing to see that not all people at this school are so exclusionary and simple minded. i thought this school was about accepting people. whatever.

i wrote a post about how i thought this entry was lacking as sports writing but it was censored. instead, there's a thread about vassar athletes which this was not about at all. if you want to run a blog, you should be prepared for criticism.

We've found that some of our comments haven't been getting sent to us for approval by Blogger; they simply get lost.

Mads has also experienced this problem.

The only comments that are actually censored will still appear under the thread. It will just say "Comment has been removed by blog administrator." The only time this should happen is if a comment contains profanity.

Please feel free to attempt to post the comment again - criticism is good, especially when it's constructive - it helps us figure out what type of stuff you guys want to hear!

to venture off topic...

the mets put 2 much hope in the hearts of their fans. there is none. they won't even see the division series.

it's just truth, especially since 2000.
