PRO-Crastinate

Hallo!
Hope mid-terms are not torturing you...too much.

Today I have TONS of things to say, but i have to keep it short (you have that paper to go back to, remember?), so I'll bullet point-it.

- The president of my country (Venezuela) decided to send the army and armoured units to the border with Colombia. He then proceeded to tell the Ecuadorian president to "do the same". Which he did. I strongly disagree with the policies of the president, but a WAR? SERIOUSLY? Ok, I highly doubt we are going to war, but still...these are not games duuuude. Anyway, just keeping you updated on the happenings of Latin America, if you care... Comments? Suggestions?

- Spring Break in the city? I recommend seeing "Fuerza Bruta", an acrobatics/experimental performance by an Argentinian group that could be describes as Cirque Du Soleil on crack. It's AMAZING. There are people hanging from the ceiling, you don't get to seat (because they move you around the stage), and there's a 70x30 feet pool suspended from the ceiling above you, dancers are inside it, and it slowly (but scarily surely) goes down towards you, until you can touch it. WUN-DUR-FUL

- I recommend checking out this french photographer, he has very very interesting stuff going on. http://www.adriendonot.com/

Ciao Ciao, have an amazing Spring Break-o

I also heard about this. It's a real complicated issue, given that Colombia, in an effort to kill one of the main figures in the FARC (guerrilla) ended up violating Ecuador's sovereignty (crossing the border) and injuring Ecuadorian soldiers. The Ecuadorian president, Correa, was really upset about this, as expected, but Chavez also interfered (as usual) and now says that Colombia committed "treason" towards their brother country. I agree that Correa and Chavez' reactions are too rash and I truly hope this doesn't end up in a belligerent conflict.
Furthermore, this FARC member that the Colombian government tried to eliminate was actually negotiating with one of the members of Correa's government. This is so that Correa could do something similar to Chavez (remember that he got 3 hostages liberated) and thus get more publicity and support.
To top it all off...Fidel Castro has to jump in and say that the attack was actually the US' fault...come on!
The world is going crazier every day...

True true, and apparently when they killed Raul Reyes (the rebel from the FARC), the Colombian government found 3 laptops with information about the guerrilla in it. Now the government says they found out that chavez actually paid $300 million (YES) to the FARC for the liberation of the hostages....that's where Venezuela's money is going, to finance drug trade and kidnappings....
